Our Top 5 Dry Shampoos – Staff Picks!

Dry shampoo has won over the hearts of so many for a ton of reasons—to name a few: it leaves hair looking fresh and clean, it adds volume, and it’s a huge timesaver. Refresh greasy roots and remove odor so you can extend your time between washes for another day—or two!

There are lots of dry shampoos to choose from, but which ones actually work? No roundup would be complete without Batiste Dry Shampoo—this cult-favourite has tons of 5 star reviews and is very popular in the Well.ca office, but the ingredient list may be alarming to some. EWG has rated this product as a moderate hazard, but luckily there are more natural options available.

Here are 5 tried-and-true staff favourites to help your good hair days last longer!

  1. Briogeo Scalp Revival Charcoal + Biotin Dry Shampoo

Loved by Carly, Director of Marketing

When it comes to products I use regularly, I really commit to tracking down the absolute best version. I’ve tried a ton of dry shampoos and Briogeo’s is by far my fave. It refreshes the look of my hair between washes without leaving a residue behind (whereas others I had tried always made my hair feel dirtier even if it looked cleaner). And if the $30 price tag is what’s stopping you, you should know that I’ve been using mine for a year now and it still has a few months’ worth left.

There are only 2 caveats (both solvable!): (1) It’s a white powder so you definitely need to rub it in if you have dark hair like me (but it’s doable, I promise!), and (2) The bottle itself gets clogged super easily, so I just open it up and pour a bit out instead of using the dispenser.

  1. Kristin Ess Hair Style Reviving Dry Shampoo

Loved by Nicole, VP of Merchandising

I love how this dry shampoo from Kristin Ess Hair sprays onto my hair as opposed to a powder formula—it lets me focus on the areas of my hair that really need the product. Plus, it’s lightweight and it smells great. The scent can be a bit strong at first, but it settles nicely throughout the day. With this product, I can extend my blow dry at least 3 days, and it helps to add volume and shine!

  1. Sun Bum Revitalizing Dry Shampoo

Loved by Lisa, Beauty & Skin Care Buyer

This Sun Bum Dry Shampoo has quickly become my “go to” dry shampoo.  It goes on easily, is lightweight, and it leaves my hair feeling refreshed when I go that extra day between washing. My favourite thing about it is the scent! It smells like coconut and reminds me of being at the beach.

  1. Kaia Naturals The Takesumi Detox Overnight Dry Shampoo Traveller Brunette

Loved by Julia, Personal Care Buyer

I love using this all-natural dry shampoo overnight as it really helps to absorb oils in the hair. After I use it, I wake up with what feels like freshly washed, voluminous hair! This product also comes in a smaller “traveller” size which is perfect for touch-ups on the go!

  1. Delectable By Cake Beauty The Everything Powder

This Everything Powder works great as a dry shampoo powder for lighter hair, and it saves me in a bind when I need fresh-looking locks. It’s all-natural, vegan and Canadian! The best part about it is the signature Cake Beauty strawberry smell—it makes me want to nom my hair all day!
