How to use The Ordinary’s 100% Niacinamide Powder

The Ordinary Niacinamide powder

If you’ve been doing any reading regarding skincare this year, chances are you have run into the buzzy ingredient, Niacinamide. Niacinamide is a well-researched ingredient that has been praised for its multiple benefits on the skin – such as targeting visible shine, textural irregularities and the appearance of enlarged pores.

The Ordinary’s latest product, 100% Niacinamide Powder, offers the ingredient in its most direct form, allowing for a DIY experience to create your perfect everyday routine.

What is The Ordinary 100% Niacinamide Powder?

The Ordinary 100% Niacinamide Powder is a singular ingredient product, meant to be mixed in with other suitable skin treatments to add the benefits of Niacinamide into your routine.

Instead of putting the ingredient into a formula that may not be suitable for all – this product is all about using Niacinamide as you see fit.

The benefits of using direct Niacinamide Powder for a DIY experience are that it allows one to have total control of their routine and preferences. By opting to mix the raw ingredient into other suitable skincare products, one can control the strength and texture of their Niacinamide treatment, while also charging up an existing product with the benefits of Niacinamide.

There are constantly so many products being made available to us, and The Ordinary’s 100% Niacinamide Powder gives control of the ingredient back to its user.

How to use 100% Niacinamide Powder

The Ordinary 100% Niacinamide Powder comes with a small spoon that will help you neatly scoop the powder from its jar, and then mix into your base of choice. You want to begin by mixing an approximate quarter scoop of powder with any non-conflicting water-based treatment in the palm of your hand. Once mixed, the powder will easily dissolve and you may apply your mixture to your face in the AM/PM, avoiding contact with your eyes.

Mixing Guide

The mixing directions are simple, but one must choose a non-conflicting water-based solution to mix with The Ordinary 100% Niacinamide Powder. So, what exactly is a non-conflicting water-based solution? When looking for products that match this criteria, you will want to ensure that the product you are mixing the powder into is water-based, sits at a pH between 5.1-7.0, and does not contain the following conflicting ingredients: direct L-Ascorbic Acid, Ethylated Ascorbic Acid, or Vitamin C derivatives. Additionally, while the Niacinamide Powder may be used in a regimen that contains Direct Acid, it is not recommended to mix the powder directly into a Direct Acid as your base.

To get you started, here are several options from The Ordinary that are perfect to mix with The Ordinary 100% Niacinamide Powder – available here at Well.ca.

  • Hyaluronic Acid 2% + B5.
  • Natural Moisturizing Factors + HA
  • Buffet + Copper Peptides 1%
  • Argireline Solution 10%

Adding 4 drops of your selected product to the quarter scoop of 100% Niacinamide Powder will create an ideal concentration to be used as a topical application. Each of these products’ added benefits create a custom skin care product for everyone and their different skincare needs!

Happy Mixing!
