Between the chemicals found in many toothpastes to disposable toothbrushes, taking care of your teeth isn’t exactly the most eco-friendly endeavour. Luckily, there are a lot of options today that can make adopting a natural oral care routine painless. While it’s still extremely important to visit your dentist periodically, here are some products that will help take care of your teeth between visits and will be kind to the environment as well:

Toothpaste

There are a lot of natural toothpastes on the market today, with varying benefits. Weleda Salt Toothpaste removes plaque with a mix of salt and baking soda, and contains myrrh to promote gum health.Green Beaver toothpaste also contains baking soda rather than chemical agents to remove plaque, and comes in unique flavours such as Green Apple or Zesty Orange flavours. Try these for something really different! While baking soda can be effective for removing plague, only fluoride is truly effective in repairing and preventing cavities. So if you’re on the market for a natural toothpaste and still want to keep fluoride in the mix, try Tom’s of Maine Cavity Protection Toothpaste.

Toothbrush

If you’re looking for an eco-friendly toothbrush, look no further than the Spry Bamboo Toothbrush for either adults or children. It’s a sustainable, biodegradable bamboo brush.

Or if you’d rather not throw out a toothbrush every three months, you can opt for the Radius Toothbrush. It features a handle made from upcycled natural fibres, and its anti-bacterial head only needs to thrown away and thrown away every nine months instead of every three.

Mouthwash

Mouthwash can be a great added step in oral care to keep your breath fresh and your mouth clear of damaging bacteria. Try Desert Essence Tea Tree Oil Mouthwash, which is especially antiseptic. Or give Tom’s of Maine Wicked Fresh Mouthwash in Cool Mountain Mint a try. This rinse gives you fresh breath without any chemicals.

Floss

Another great product is Desert Essence Tea Tree Oil Dental Tape. Tea Tree Oil is naturally antiseptic, and so will help reduce damaging build up between your teeth. Or for something fruity, try Radius’ Cranberry Floss. It includes xylitol to promote healthy gums, and is a vegan product!

Fresh Breath

In between brushes and especially after meals, you can try Glee Gum. It’s a vegetarian gum that is also kosher. Or if you prefer mints, VerMints are natural mints that come in amazing flavours such as Cinnamints, Ginger and Chai Mints.
